Inaugural STUDIO Energy Storage Technical Conference a Success




For three days this week in San Francisco, the energy storage community convened to explore and discuss the practical technical considerations of deployment, integration and operation of energy storage systems on the grid. The STUDIO Energy Storage Technical Conference brought nearly 200 industry experts from utilities, project development, and research communities came together in a unique educational setting – combining expert panels and speakers with an interactive and engaging peer-to-peer learning format.

Bill H.4568 came out of committee last night with multiple provisions related to the expansion of energy storage in the state. The 'Act to promote energy diversity' includes a number of different facets primarily focused on wind and hydropower, but it also empowers DOER to set appropriate targets for storage procurements and opens up ownership of distributed storage assets to the utilities.

Washington, D.C. – July 22, 2016 – The Energy Storage Association (ESA) urges Massachusetts House and Senate leaders to include the energy storage provisions of Senate Bill 2400 in their Conference Committee report. Massachusetts is a beacon for the clean technology and energy industries, leading ambitious grid modernization efforts and spurring continued advancements in clean energy technologies that have created nearly 100,000 jobs. With the Commonwealth's goals for clean energy deployment and grid modernization, significant energy storage will be needed in the near future, and the Commonwealth will secure its leadership in the advanced energy economy by including storage in forthcoming legislation.
